Music and the outdoors

Saturday night Thor and I went to listen to Beethoven - 2 hours worth of incredible piano showmanship and backup orchestra - it was amazing, especially when a piano string broke and the pianist stood up, stuck her hand in the bellies of the piano, pulled something up and then went right on playing.

Sunday night, Thor and I went with Ryan & Sara to listen to tubas and a concert band play outdoors at Latham Park. We feasted on pita bread and hummus, ham and lettuce wraps, banana bread and lemonade. There were kids marching and skipping through the grass.

Joylynn

Yeah, the kids marching and skipping through the grass were following the tuba players. It was a little fishy if you ask me. Something very pidepipperish about the whole thing

quack quack quack

Yesterday we fed the ducks at the Bog gardens. One duck we affectionately named Elvis followed us right down the boardwalk

A good night for ice cream

Last night, Thor and I ate delicious Harris Teeter ice cream and watched an episode of the Gilmore Girls. What more does a girl need?

Two is Company

Joylynn and I were going to go to the Sunday night music in the park yesterday, but the park was closed because of some soil contamination. Yuk. We decided to head down to city central instead. In the middle of the fountain more than a dozen kids were playing in the fountain. Who could blame them? It must have been 100 degrees outside. We sat in the shade so we wouldn't get sun burned.

After our park time we ate a piece of cheese cake from"Cheese Cake By Alex" allong with a few glasses of milk (joylynn gets skim milk, I get whole milk).

Even MORE Company

Our friend's Sarah and Chris came over today after church. We at a very nice brunch at OUR apartment. A very nice visit if I do say so myself.

More Company

My Uncle Bob and Aunt Jean stopped by today from Michigan.

We went to the local breakfast spot (Tex and Shirley's) then over to UNCG for a quick look at the campus, and concluded with a driving tour of Greensboro. It was very nice to have them at OUR apartment.

Company

The Armstong's came to OUR apartment tonight.

I cooked a pasta dish: mushed cherry tomatos mixed with garlic, olive oil, and a chili pepper tasty, but needed a little less garlic.

Resident AND Other Good School News

Joylynn and I found out I have residency in North Carolina AND the graduate school offered me a in-state AND out of state tuition waiver. Hoora!

Good news. Now we can start saving our pennies for a trip to South East Asia next year.
